Undercliff Path Sculptures & free beach activites

A local arts and environmental education partnership – ONCA, Schools Without Walls and artist David Watson – on a mission to celebrate The Living Coast are thrilled to unveil two new sculptures for the Undercliff Path.

Children at local schools helped dream up these playful Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ)-inspired sculptures of home. The sculptures are made from waste, including amongst other things, salvaged aeroplane wheels. The sea and the seabed running alongside the Undercliff Path are home to many amazing creatures, with the chalk gullies and kelp forest protected from over-fishing as part of our local MCZ. Come and help celebrate this precious local blue space and the creatures and plants that call it home!

Discover the sculptures and take part in free activities on the beach –

  • Beachcombing: explore the shore line, using identification sheets to see what calls the beach home.
  • Sketchbooking: make a simple sketchbook and fill it with memories of what you find.
