Zack Mckracken Shanty Workshop
Join festival curator Zack from Homeward Bound shanties in the mysterious cellars of the Old Ship Hotel and raise your glass and perhaps some vital funds for the brilliant RNLI. This one-off sea shanty taster session will have you belting out like a salty sailor within no time. Absolutely no singing skills required!
Cappin Zack Mckraken (Son of Sea Beast) who runs regular Homeward Bound shanties for private groups and businesses will be encouraging you to get dressed up like sailors, don a fake tattoo (if you still need one!), sip an optional cockle warmer of rum from the Old Ship Hotel bar and gather in the round to belt your primal hearts out to genuine traditional fun and easy sailor work songs.
Sea shanties were motivational work songs specifically written to keep sailors pullin and rowin in their various tasks. But perhaps more importantly they were sung to keep spirits high. Sailors weren’t employed on account of the quality of their voices and so neither should you be…
Just get your best pals together to support this great cause in the very spot smugglers may once have hidden their wares.
Maximum of 15 places per session.
If you’re not lucky enough to get a place on one of these FREE taster workshops or you are interested in your own private shanty session, Zack runs Homeward Bound Sea Shanty workshops throughout the year both on and offshore. Find out more here.
